Colgate-Palmolive recently joined a new group that aims to create an industry-wide environmental impact assessment and scoring system for cosmetics products.
The EcoBeautyScore Consortium was created in September 2021 and officially launched in November. It comprises 36 cosmetics and personal care companies as well as professional associations across four continents. The goal of the group is to provide transparent information about the environmental impact of cosmetic products.
The consortium is working with Quantis, a sustainability consultancy group, to devise the assessment and scoring system. A prototype is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
