Colorado Mountain College Vail Valley at Edwards launched a new dental hygiene program and opened a new facility for the program, according to an Aug. 22 report by Vail Daily.
The new program is the fifth dental hygiene program in Colorado, which has a shortage of dental hygienists, particularly in rural areas.
Students can earn an associate of applied science degree in dental hygiene by completing six continuous semesters in the program.
Last year, the Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation awarded $5 million in grants to four colleges in Colorado to create and expand dental hygiene programs, including Colorado Mountain College.
Laura Jacob is the director of the dental hygiene program at the school, the report said.
