Bismarck (N.D.) State College received approval to offer associate degree programs for dental hygiene and dental assisting, according to a July 11 report by Prairie Public Broadcasting.
The North Dakota Board of Higher Education approved the new programs by a vote of five to three.
Bismarck State College will be among four schools to offer dental hygiene and dental assisting programs, joining North Dakota College of Science in Wahpeton, Minot State University the Dakota College at Bottineau.
North Dakota has 710 active dental hygienists and 800 active dental assistants, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
