Minnesota is expected to become the 9th state to join the Dentist and Dental Hygienist compact.
The interstate compact supports license portability, allowing dentists and dental hygienists to practice in all participating states without needing to obtain a license for each individual state, according to a May 20 news release from the American Dental Association.
The Minnesota Legislature passed the compact May 19 and Gov. Tim Waltz is expected to sign the bill shortly.
Minnesota joins Colorado, Maine, Washington, Iowa, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Kansas to sign legislation to join the compact. The compact became effective in April when Maine became the 7th state to join.
It is expected to take 18 to 24 months to implement the compact, the release said.
