Two bills have been introduced in the Illinois House to fix the long licensing process for healthcare workers, including dentists, according to a March 19 report by The Center Square.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation requires workers to pay for their license either through a check in the mail or directly to the agency's office in Springfield, Ill., or Chicago. House Bill 4855 would create an option to pay for licenses or fees online.
House Bill 1572 requires the department to create and issue temporary licenses to healthcare workers on an expedited basis, increasing the chance that they stay in Illinois and don't head to another state due to licensing delays.
Rep. Bill Hauter, a sponsor of HB 1572, said that some healthcare professionals have waited nearly a year to get their licenses.
HB 4855 was introduced by Rep. Tony McCombie, the report said.
