Patients of a Kentucky dental practice have to wait months for an appointment due to ongoing dental workforce shortages, CBS affiliate WYMT reported March 7.
Greg Baker, DMD, a dentist at the Primary Care Centers of Eastern Kentucky in Hazard, told the news station that his practice is booked three months out and he has been trying to hire a fourth dentist at the office for more than two years.
Dr. Baker said it is hard to encourage dentists to move to Eastern Kentucky to practice.
Kentucky has 54.92 dentists per 100,000 resident population, according to a 2020 CDC report.
