Clinicians examining claims at Delta Dental of Michigan affirmed that NovoDynamics' artificial intelligence program accurately identifies dental claims for review.
Over a 10-month pilot program, NovoHealth Dental reviewed more than 120,000 dental insurance claims and clinicians agreed with the AI's denial recommendations more than 86% of the time, according to a Sept. 12 news release.
In a separate study, dental clinicians agreed with the dental AI programs 84% of the time.
NovoHealthDental pre-sorts claims that clinicians will need to review, do not meet clinical guidelines, do not have proper documentation and claims that have been submitted with large errors.
The program allows providers and payers to reduce administrative time spent on reviewing claims and allow patients to make more informed decisions on treatment options, the release said.
