The Illinois House of Representatives recently passed a bill that would ban dental insurers from denying coverage for procedures they've previously authorized, WGEM reported April 17.
Under HB4789, dental insurers would still be able to deny coverage in instances where the treatment plan is vastly different from the plan originally submitted, a patient’s benefit limit is reached or situations in which the treatment is no longer necessary.
The bill was passed with widespread support during the April 16 vote.
