Here are six updates on the dental insurance industry that Becker's has reported on since Nov. 13:
1. A rule was proposed that would allow states to include adult dental services as an essential health benefit under the Affordable Care Act.
2. MaineCare patients are having difficulties finding dentists who accept Medicaid, even though the state expanded MaineCare coverage to include adult dental care in 2022.
3. The American Dental Association voiced its thoughts on the 2024 Medicare physician fee schedule final rule, which was finalized earlier in November.
4. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois recently wrote a letter to three dental Medicaid administrators requesting information to help improve access to dental care.
5. USA Today named its top six dental insurance plans for 2024, listing Anthem Essential Choice PPO Platinum as its top choice.
6. The American Dental Association joined 187 other organizations that signed a letter to legislators in support of the Children's Health Insurance Program Permanency Act.
