Sun Life Financial to acquire DentaQuest for $2.4B

Wellesley Hills, Mass.-based Sun Life will acquire oral healthcare company DentaQuest for $2.4 billion, the financial services company said Oct. 3.

DentaQuest provides dental and vision benefits, operates more than 80 oral health centers in six states and advocates for improved oral healthcare in the U.S. Its parent company is oral healthcare advocacy group CareQuest.

Sun Life is an international financial services company. Its U.S. division provides employer-based dental benefits covering disability, absence management, life, dental, vision, voluntary, supplemental health and medical stop loss.

Sun Life said the acquisition will more than double the revenue of its employee benefits business. It also said the acquisition will allow CareQuest to expand its advocacy work. CareQuest will use proceeds from the deal to fund its programs and initiatives.
