Heartland Dental, The Aspen Group and PDS Health are the three largest DSOs and MSOs in the dental industry, collectively supporting nearly 4,000 dental offices in the U.S.
Here are more than a dozen updates from each company since the start of 2025:
Heartland Dental (Effingham, Ill.)
1. Heartland Dental reflected on its growth during 2024, which included the addition of 31 offices, opening 105 practices and its artificial intelligence partnership with VideaHealth and Henry Schein One.
2. The DSO partnered with Jacobson Dental Group in Walled Lake, Mich.
3. A two-building retail center in Greer, S.C., that includes a Heartland Dental practice was sold for $8.6 million.
4. Heartland Dental was included on Newsweek's "America's Greatest Workplaces for Inclusion and Diversity" list for 2025.
5. The DSO affiliated with Garners Ferry Dentistry in Columbia, S.C.
6. Chris Tampio was hired as the DSO's vice president of government affairs.
7. Sherianne James also joined the DSO in January as chief marketing officer.
8. Heartland Dental launched "Masters and Mentors", a new campaign to reinforce the DSO's commitment to its support model and culture.
The Aspen Group (Chicago)
1. Ash ElDifrawi, the chief commercial and brand officer for The Aspen Group, spoke with Becker's to discuss the organization's growth in the dental industry last year and its top priorities for 2025.
2. Aspen Dental partnered with dental product company The Ivoclar Group to launch its Signature Elite Denture.
3. Aspen Dental also partnered with biometric dental science organization vVardis to reduce tooth decay.
4. TAG celebrated several milestones achieved in 2024, including providing care to more than 9 million patient visits in 2024, opening more than 100 offices and investments in patient care and team development.
5. ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers opened an office in The Villages, Fla., Jan. 14.
6. Aspen Dental opened a location in Harriman, N.Y., on Feb. 11.
7. A property with an Aspen Dental practice location in North Conway, N.H., was sold for $3.8 million.
8. A retail strip center in Waldorf, Md., that includes an Aspen Dental location was sold for $6.3 million.
PDS Health (Henderson, Nev.)
1. PDS Health partnered with Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine in South Jordan, Utah, to provide students with hands-on clinical training.
2. PDS Health noted several achievements from 2024, including more than seven million patient visits and double-digit financial growth.
3. The organization added dental practices in Florida, Kentucky and Massachusetts.
