Charges added against Boston dental office manager accused of unlicensed dentistry

A former dental office manager who was previously accused of practicing dentistry without a license is now being charged with unlawful use of a registration number and fraudulent use of a credit card, NECN reported Dec. 17.

Fritz Gabriel was the manager of Forest Hills Dental in Boston. He was charged in May with one count of Medicaid false claims, one count of larceny over $1,200, one count of assault and battery and one count of unlicensed practice of dentistry.

The New York Attorney General's office alleged that Mr. Gabriel and the dental practice billed MassHealth for services not provided as well as services performed by Mr. Gabriel, who is not a licensed dentist. They allegedly obtained approximately $245,000 as a result of these submissions.

Mr. Gabriel has now been accused of issuing prescriptions using the registration and credentials of another dentist without their knowledge. He was also accused of charging a patient's credit card more than $6,000 in unauthorized purchases, including $5,000 to Forest Hills Dental.

Mr. Gabriel pleaded not guilty to the new charges Dec. 17. He was released on personal recognizance, NECN reported.
