An Arizona dental assistant and the practice for which he worked are being sued after the dental assistant was accused of molesting three children while at work, according to an Oct. 17 AZFamily report.
Deion Garcia worked as a dental assistant at Kidiatric Dental, a pediatric dental practice with two locations in Arizona.
He was charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and five charges of molestation of a child. Mr. Garcia pleaded not guilty in May.
After Mr. Garcia was arrested, the practice updated and improved its safety measures, including requiring parents or adult caregivers to be present with their child during X-rays; creating an easier process for parents, patients and staff to make anonymous reports; and running background checks on existing employees each year.
An attorney for one of the plaintiffs said the case was handled poorly and caused significant emotional distress to the victim and her family.
Mr. Garcia's trial is set for January, the report said.
