Penn Dental Medicine received a $620,900 grant to further advance dental care for individuals with disabilities.
The funding will support the Penn Dental Medicine's PCare Suite, which treated nearly 2,000 patients last fiscal year, according to a Sept. 17 news release.
The grant will fund a project involving a series of oral health training videos and training tools to help home caregivers, nurses and other direct service providers on providing oral hygiene care to persons with disabilities under their care.
The additional funds will also enable Penn Dental Medicine to hire a full-time oral health educator and a part-time dental hygienist.
The grant is from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation Access to Care Grant Program and will be awarded over three years, the release said.
