The law firm of Federman & Sherwood launched an investigation into a recent data breach at a New York dental practice.
New York City-based Aire Dental Arts recently said that it became aware in June of certain computer systems being inaccessible because of malicious file encryption. The practice determined that a threat actor was able to gain access to certain files within the practice's systems.
Information that was potentially exposed in the breach includes full names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses and medical information, according to an Aug. 29 news release from the law firm.
When the practice posted the notice in June, it was not aware of any fraudulent activity associated with the breach.
