Multiple dentists have spoken out against the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners, claiming that the board has acted outside of its authority on a number of occasions, according to an Aug. 25 report by Alabama Daily News.
During an Aug. 22 public hearing, one dentist said that the board's conduct was "predatory" and "secretive."
A report from the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts found multiple instances of noncompliance from the dental board, including failure to properly document public meetings and issuing waivers for which it lacked the necessary authorization.
When questioned about the noncompliance, the executive director of the board said that the board members needed to be more diligent.
The Alabama Board of Dental Examiners did not immediately respond to Becker's request for comment.
