Here are two dentists who recently had actions taken against their licenses by state dental boards:
1. Michael McKinney Jr., DMD, had his license suspended after he was arrested in connection to the murder of a woman last month. The Kentucky Board of Dentistry announced it was launching its own investigation against Dr. McKinney regarding his "competency to practice," and issued an immediate temporary suspension of his license.
2. The Washington Dental Quality Assurance Commission and Burke Jardin, DMD, entered into an agreed order that restrains Dr. Jardin's dentist license and moderate sedation with parenteral agents permit. Between October 2017 and August 2023, Dr. Jardin failed to adequately and accurately assess patient risk factors, administered a general anesthetic, administered medications in a timeframe that likely resulted in a level beyond moderate sedation and failed to monitor and document all required vital signs during patients' procedures.
