Several states have disciplined dentists recently for violations related to patient care, infection control and more.
Five updates:
1. The Iowa Dental Board revoked the dental license of Phelan Thomas, DDS, a dentist in West Des Moines, Iowa, on three counts, including improper contact with a patient or coworker and unprofessional conduct.
2. A dentist in Chesapeake, Va., had his dental license revoked by the Virginia Board of Dentistry for the second time.
3. The Washington Dental Quality Assurance Commission disciplined two dentists in the state.
4. A Mississippi dentist and the Washington Dental Quality Assurance Commission agreed to the surrender of his dental license.
5. A North Carolina dentist surrendered her license to practice in the state permanently after multiple infection control violations.
