The Biden Administration said July 18 it plans to forgive $1.2 billion in student debt for 35,000 people.
Here are three things to know:
1. This most recent round of student loan forgiveness brings the total number of borrowers who have benefitted from Biden's debt relief efforts to 4.76 million people.
2. The 35,000 new beneficiaries will have their debt canceled through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which covers public service workers such as healthcare workers, teachers and law enforcement officials.
3. Dentists must meet several requirements to qualify for the PSLF program, including being employed full-time by a government or nonprofit organization, having direct loans and making 120 qualifying payments.
