Madison, Wis.-based First Choice Dental provided a notice of a data ransomware attack on its network.
The company first detected the attack on Oct. 22, 2023, when an unauthorized actor gained access to First Choice Dental's network, encrypted some of the company's data and attempted to extort a ransom payment, according to a July 16 news release.
In response, First Choice Dental launched a forensic investigation and posted a notice of the event Dec. 21, 2023. In May 2024, the company completed its review and began preparing to notify individuals who were affected.
Information that may have been accessed during the attack includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, passport numbers, driver's license numbers, government identification numbers, credit and debit card numbers, financial account numbers and health information, the release said.
First Choice Dental has 12 clinic locations in Wisconsin, according to its website.
