The University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry is piloting an after-hours dental clinic to increase accessibility for patients.
The after-hours clinic operates once a month from 5-8 p.m. to treat dental patients who are unable to visit during typical business hours, according to an April 1 news release.
Treatments at the clinic include X-rays, exams, extractions, fillings, root canals and cleanings. The university will also test new technology at the clinic, including an artificial intelligence assistant that can log patient information and additional notes.
The university plans to run the pilot until July. If the pilot goes well, the university hopes to then begin operating the after-hours clinic permanently.
