The Utah Division of Professional Licensing revoked the controlled substance license and deep sedation and general anesthesia permit of a Utah dentist.
Mark Lee Newey, DDS, a dentist in Clearfield, Utah, forfeited his controlled substance license and permits after performing services for and prescribing medication to staff members, according to a surrender stipulation and order form the licensing division.
Dr. Newey surrendered his license and permits after he prescribed more than 3,000 oxycodone pills to four members of his staff.
As part of the order, Dr. Newey will not be permitted to reapply for a controlled substance license or a dentist deep sedation and general anesthesia permit in Utah for five years.
