5 dental updates in North Carolina

Here are five updates affecting dentistry that have taken place in North Carolina since July 21: 

1. Greenville, N.C.-based East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine signed an early assurance agreement with the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

2. Raleigh, N.C.-based Oakpoint added Asheville (N.C.) Dental Associates to its network. 

3. North Carolina legislators are considering a bill that would expand the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners' capabilities related to licensing, clinical assessments and practice. 

4. A North Carolina dental practice that was destroyed in a fire weeks before its opening is now preparing to rebuild.

5. The North Carolina Association of Free and Charitable Clinics is expecting an increase in patients as individuals lose Medicaid benefits after the unwinding of pandemic rules.
