15 dental tech innovations from 2024

From a dental-dedicated MRI in the U.S. to the first fully automated dental procedure on a human using dental robotics, here are 15 dental technology innovations that Becker's reported on in 2024:

1. Boston-based Perceptive and Henderson, Nev.-based PDS Health finished the first successful clinical study of a 3D intraoral optical coherence tomography dental imaging system.

2. The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in Minneapolis recently welcomed the first dental-dedicated MRI in the U.S.

3. Toronto, Canada-based ClaroNav received FDA clearance to expand its Navident EVO system to include guided endodontics.

4.  Orthodontics company uLab introduced Reva, a thermoforming material used to improve clear aligner products.

5. Endodontics technology company Odne received FDA clearance for Odne Clean, an endodontic debridement device.

6. Formlabs Dental, a 3D printing company, earned FDA 510(k) medical device clearance for its Premium Teeth Resin.

11. Researchers developing a tooth regeneration drug began the first human trial for the drug.

12. OrthoFX launched NiTime clear aligners, the first aligner system designed for shorter wear time that is cleared by the FDA.
