A federal court granted summary judgment in favor of Align Technology in two separate lawsuits.
The two antitrust class action suits, filed in 2020 and 2021, opposed Align's decision to end scan acceptance in the U.S. from a third-party scanner that the company claimed was infringing on its intellectual property, according to a Feb. 22 news release from Align.
"These lawsuits challenged Align's ability to enforce its intellectual property rights in technology that benefits our customers and that our customers rely on," said Julie Coletti, Align executive vice president, chief legal and regulatory officer.
Align is also defending itself against other unrelated claims in a different antitrust case that has not yet reached the summary judgment phase.
The summary judgment in favor of Align was in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the release said.
