The American Dental Association recently adopted new standards for its continuing education recognition program.
Six notes:
1. The ADA's Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition reduced the number of standards a CE provider needs to meet to receive ADA CERP approval from 14 to five.
2. The number of individual criteria a provider must meet was also reduced from 104 to 17.
3. The ADA said the changes put more emphasis on evaluating the effectiveness of CE programs by giving providers more flexibility to demonstrate how their programs meet the core requirements.
4. The changes are the result of feedback from CE providers, who requested more streamlined requirements, the ADA said Oct. 8.
5. The new requirements will go into effect June 1, 2026.
6. A new CERP application process will also launch in January 2027.
