Sunday Akintoye, DDS, and his team are studying the molecular differences between jaw bones and other bones in the body. This information can help clinicians replace bone lost to surgery, trauma and tumors, according to an Aug. 1 news release.
The researchers eventually would like to apply their findings to further understand ameloblastoma and whether incorporating jaw stem cells info grafts can help promote rapid healing and jaw reconstruction.
