Metuchen, N.J.-based Dentistry. One launched SmileScan, an AI-powered service to monitor oral health in between dental visits.
The program analyzes five photos of an individual's mouth, evaluating aspects including tartar buildup, gum recession, inflammation, teeth gaps and alignment issues, according to a Sept. 17 news release.
The use of SmileScan can help detect oral health problems earlier, potentially leading to reduced treatment costs in the future.
The AI technology used in SmileScan was developed by Toothlens.
Dentistry. One is a dental telehealth company whose technology and software are used by more than 42,000 dental practices, 30 DSOs and 100 dental schools across the U.S., the release said.
