More than 93% of Medicare Advantage plans in 2024 will offer dental benefits, according to KFF.
Ninety-seven percent of individual plans will offer dental benefits, and the same will be true of 93% of special needs plans. The benefits offered by each individual plan will vary, as some plans may include only cleaning and preventive care while others may have more comprehensive services.
Most plans that offer dental benefits will be subject to an annual dollar cap the plan covers.
There is no additional premium for most plans to include dental benefits, but there are often more restrictive provider networks and increased use of prior authorization.
In 2024, the average Medicare beneficiary will have a choice of 43 plans offered by an average of eight insurers, the report said.
